Leyendecker / Cloth study


To be honest, out of all the examples we could choose from, I'm not sure why I picked a Leyendecker; I'm not in any position to call it out, but his stuff doesn't really do it for me. :/

Just came across your blog and had to comment. I don't know when you made this comment so this might be utterly irrelevant.
This painting of President Washington in prayer is one of my favorites and J.C. Lyendecker's color portrayal is absolutely stunning!
Lyendecker "Always" moves me, quite profoundly. His enormous talent, and that of his equally talented brother, Frank Xavier is for me, simply beyond words.
Maybe, it's just that one has to like this particular art from this era to fully appreciate their work.
